PENLLYN and CRAIG PENLLYN
Opening of the Winchfield Path - On Saturday 29th January 2011 Over 50 residents from Penllyn and Graig Penllyn celebrated the opening of the Winchfield path. The path is a 850 metre tarmac path which surrounds the children's play area as well as encircling the main field. It also has chairs and picnic tables. Steven Madeley, Vice- Chair of the Graig and Penllyn Residents Association spoke about the effort and the commitment of many residents to make the idea of the path a reality and the fact that the path was already being well used by the Residents. He then invited Barbara Whitehouse and Melanie Treadwell to cut the ribbon to official declare it open! Barbara, as Chair of the Residents Association, thanked Jane Williams and Creative Rural Communities, South Wales Sports Grounds, Penllyn Community Council and Tidy Towns for their support. The Residents then enjoyed a barbecue and many families took the opportunity to walk the path and enjoy the winter sunshine! Steven Madeley Photographs of the occasion: Click to expand.
